The purpose of Accessibility Clinic ® Inc. is to provide education about accessibility, increase access to accessible technology, and provide interventions to increase the independence of individuals with disabilities through charity. This website advances that mission by providing free educational information about assistive technology evaluations, AAC evaluations, educational evaluations, and Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs), and by offering evaluation services as part of the organization's mission-related activities. Our Approach

We believe assistive technology decisions should start with the person, not the product. Our approach centers on understanding an individual's access needs across their real environments, and then matching helpful features, strategies, and tools to those needs. We aim to provide clear, individualized information that people, families, and teams can use to make their own decisions.

Experience

Our team has experience in areas including special education, reading, mathematics, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and assistive technology. Evaluation services are informed by extensive professional experience in special education, assistive technology, accessibility, and educational access. The evaluator holds a Ph.D. and the RESNA Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) credential and has substantial experience working with AAC systems, switch access, alternative computer access, accessible curriculum, environmental modifications, visual-access technology, and individuals with significant physical and communication support needs.

This background supports a feature-matching approach that considers the individual's functional abilities, tasks, environments, access methods, current strategies, training needs, and long-term implementation rather than beginning with a predetermined device or product.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Jeffrey Davis, Ph.D., ATP, is Executive Director of The Accessibility Clinic Inc., the 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates this site. He is a certified educator with approximately 22 years of experience in public education, including certification in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and in Reading, and holds a Ph.D. in Leadership and Education, with doctoral research examining assistive technology in postsecondary education. He is a RESNA-certified Assistive Technology Professional (ATP), a credential independently verifiable through RESNA's Certified Professionals Directory. This background in special education, reading, and assistive technology informs the evaluation approach described throughout this site.
